4 Draw and label the Harvester vase.
5 Take notes on the "Treasury of Atreus"

HW #13 “Read about Art of Ancient Greece"
1 Take notes on "Geometric & Orientalizing" periods of ancient Greek art.
2 Identify the main points made in your texts about characteristics of Geometric & Orientalizing Greek art.
3 Read "boxes" in Gardner & Adams texts & take notes on major points they each contain.
4 Burial Practices Take notes on how the Greeks differed from contemporaneous civilizations.
5 What was the importance of the hero Hercules (Herakles) & his 12 labors?
6 Make a list of the illustrations in your texts , and a small diagram for each. ( with dates.)

HW #14 "The Archaic Period "
1 Look at all the illustrations in your texts & describe the way the human figure is depicted.
(Note you may make a diagram & annotate it to describe its features. instead of describing.)
2 Describe & date the purpose of the kouros figures? Why is he always smiling?
3 What was the purpose of the kore statues?
4 Compare the "Peplos Kore" with the other Kore figure illustrated in your text.. (How different & how same?)

HW #15 "Classical Style"
1 Transition to the Classical style begins with a statue called "The Kritios Boy?" What is different
about this statue as compared to the usual kouros or kore figures?
2 During what historical period did the shift in style occur? (Include dates)
3 Read about the process of making life-size bronze statues, sometimes called the "lost
wax" or "hollow casting" process. If you do not understand it completely, make yourself little
diagrams of it -- with labels.
4 Polykleitos was an influential sculptor of Classical style. List main features of his canon called
the "Spear Bearer." The original was bronze. Identify why this one is in stone.
5 Classical Style in "Architecture" Name temples which lead up to the crowning achievement
of the Parthenon. Identify characteristics of Doric & Ionic orders seen on all Greek temples.
Make diagrams of Doric & Ionic columns. Label.
6 Take notes on the metopes and the pediment sculpture of the Parthenon.
