2  Consult box in this chapter for “original sources”    
Make a few notes on how the early nomadic Persians who produced fine ‘craft art’ went on to create magnificent
      architectural palaces at Persepolis when they became rulers of a mighty Empire.

HW #8  Read about Art of Ancient Egypt
Take notes on "Old Kingdom"
2  List characteristics of portrayal of human figures. Make small diagrams and annotate them.
Read boxes in both texts & take notes on major points they contain.
Burial Practices Trace development from mastaba to pyramid. Make diagrams. Annotate.  
5  Hieroglyphics: Take notes on Rosetta Stone, hieroglyphics, cartouches.

1  Akhnaten - called first "monotheist" - List stylistic qualities of art in this period.    
2  Tomb of Tutenkhamen.  ReadLook at illustrations.    
What is a "Book of  the Dead?"   (summarize definition  in text)
4  Adams:   "Egypt & Nubia."    Read 'box'  about recent archaelogical find in 1995.

6  Read about - and make notes about - the rock-cut tomb of Ramses II at Abu Simbel.
