Assignment:
1. Select two portrait paintings (NOT SELF PORTRAITS) from either the Frick or the Met, each of a single individual by different artists, and from different periods. Identify each work by title, artist, date, medium, and museum. How does each work reflect the stylistic tendency of the artist's own time? Compare and contrast how each artist portrays the person's individuality.
2. Select two paintings, one before 1800 and one after 1800, in which the artist has depicted the daily life of his or her own time as the subject. Identify each work by title, artist, date, medium, and museum. Compare the ways in which the artists depict the subject matter.

This book is available in our school library. It is kept on reserve with the Art History texts. Ask!

Pages of report must be typed, double spaced, plain font.
1. Title Page with receipts from both museums. Be sure to include the museum names, date, your name, period/teacher (15 pts.)
2. Brief essay response to seeing the two exhibits at the Met (10 pts.)
3. Essay 1 (20 pts.) Full ID required for each work
4. Essay 2 (20 pts.) Full ID required for each work
5. Your worksheet/notes, written while you view the Frick Collection (20 pts.)
6. Your worksheet/notes written in the Met Museum (10 pts.)
6. Works Cited (where you got your information) (5 pts.)
You must identify the source of your information throughout the report. Use footnotes or any other method of attribution you have been taught.
